The actor got married to Toyin Aimakhu in 2013 and despite their breakup, the marriage is yet to be dissolved.
For a while now, Nollywood actor and estranged husband of Toyin Aimakhu has been receiving some social media attention for his secret relationship with another Nollywood actress, Seyi Edun.
The lovers started dating secretly in 2015 but refrained from disclosing their relationship in public.
However in recent times, the actress has openly acknowledged Niyi Johnson as her boo, showered unending praises on him for lending his unflinching support towards her recently held movie premiere.
Posting on Instagram after he movie premier, Seyi Edun fawned over Johnson saying, ‘All I can say is thank you, thanks for the surprises you really got me. Thanks for being my Uber, my bartender, thanks for supporting me financially, spiritually and morally, I love you and I love you forever.’
Some of their fans have also congratulated them and are insinuating that the duo may have had a secret wedding.
But it turns out that, despite Niyi’s and Toyin’s messy separation in 2015, the former lovebirds have not dissolved their July 2013 marriage.
Hence, in the eye of the law, Adeniyi Johnson is still legally married to Toyin Aimakhu, therefore he cannot perform any legal marriage rites with another woman.
His short-lived marriage to Aimakhu ended after he was said to have been caught cheating on her several occasions. Both parties have moved on: Toyin Aimakhu herself has gone on to be involved in yet another messy relationship with film producer Seun Egbegbe.
Nevertheless the marriage contracted at Ikoyi Registry still is valid and will prevent Seyi Edun from formalizing her status with Johnson.
